Ingredients

2 | lbs | Sweet Cheese |
1 | Cup | Butter |
1 | Can | Kashta |
Instructions
- Thaw the dough and the cheese
- Preheat the oven to 350°F
- Melt the butter
- Mix the Kataifa with the melted butter
- Spread approximately 2/3 of the mixture onto a pan
- A 16 inch pizza pan is approximately the correct size when spread fully across
- Press the mixture firmly as it is spread
- Create a raised edge to act as a bowl for the cheese in later steps
- Place the pan in the oven until it is golden brown, approximately 45 minutes
- Remove the pan from the oven and add the sweet cheese over the Kataifa mixture
- The raised edge should help keep the cheese inside the Knafe
- Cover the cheese with the Kashta
- Spread the rest of the dough to cover the cheese
- Place back in the oven until the cheese melts and the top layer begins to brown
- If required, broil for a few seconds to brown the top layer
- Flip and serve
