Instructions

  1. Thaw the dough and the cheese
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F350°F
  3. Melt the butter
  4. Mix the Kataifa with the melted butter
  5. Spread approximately 2/32/3 of the mixture onto a pan
    • A 16 inch pizza pan is approximately the correct size when spread fully across
    • Press the mixture firmly as it is spread
    • Create a raised edge to act as a bowl for the cheese in later steps
  6. Place the pan in the oven until it is golden brown, approximately 45 minutes
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and add the sweet cheese over the Kataifa mixture
    • The raised edge should help keep the cheese inside the Knafe
  8. Cover the cheese with the Kashta
  9. Spread the rest of the dough to cover the cheese
  10. Place back in the oven until the cheese melts and the top layer begins to brown
    • If required, broil for a few seconds to brown the top layer
  11. Flip and serve
